Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia all celebrate their National Days in August. [V] gets into the patriotic spirit with its own CelebrAsian!
Proudly honoring the best in Asia, [V] turns the focus on local artists who have conquered the regional music scene.
As part of [V]’s CelebrAsian, three hot local AMP acts will be featured as August’s 'Chosen Ones'. The lineup consists of Singapore's Electrico, Indonesia's Alexa, and Malaysia's Hujan.
All three groups will be profiled in all-new episodes of AMP Around Asia. During each episode, the featured group will pay tribute to their respective homelands by performing a song that reflects their country. These patriotic tunes will debut exclusively this month on CHANNEL [V]’s AMP Around Asia. You can also catch Electrico, Hujan and Alexa on Videoscope on Saturday, 29 August at 8pm HK/SG, 9pm MAL.

Electrico (Singapore)
As our Breakout Artist last month, Singapore’s indie-pop band, Electrico have proved to be one of the most influential local acts in the region. Formed in 2003 by David Tan, Desmond Goh, William Lim Jr., the band has been rocking out and shaking up the local Singaporean music scene. From SXSW (South by Southwest) music festival in the US to the Pattaya International Music Festival in Thailand, these self-confessed music junkies are steadily gaining momentum as they continue to add new dimensions to their music.
To mark Singapore’s 44th birthday celebrations, Electrico has penned the inspiring tune, "What Do You See?". For our August CelebrAsian, Electrico performs "Hip City" exclusively for Channel V. The song was taken from their sophomore album and was written about Singapore. Hujan (Malaysia)
Hujan is one of Malaysia's most popular alternative rock bands to date. Consisting of 5 members: Noh (lead vocalist & guitars), AG (lead guitarist), Jaja (bass guitar), Dimas (keyboardist) and Am (drums), the band was formed in 2006 and has 2 studio albums under their rock belts. Since their formation, Hujan have attracted a devoted fan base. Since Hujan means ‘Rain’ in English, the band’s followers are known as ‘Raingers’. In keeping with their name, Hujan’s music swings from cloudy, blustery rock to light and breezy pop.
During the week of 10 - 14 August, fans can tune in to our new music-filled show [V] Plug each day at 8pm HK/SG, 9pm MAL to catch behind-the-scene segments on the Malaysian band, featuring VJ Nicholas Saputra. Catch all five segments to find out if the band thinks Am the drummer or AG the guitarist should get a haircut!
[V] Plug culminates with the premiere of their latest music video "Mencari Konklusi" ("Finding a conclusion") on FRIDAY, 14 August.
Hujan will be front and centre in a [V] Special premiering SUNDAY, 30 August at 9pm HK/SG, 10pm MAL. Exclusive to CHANNEL [V], this special was filmed at the FX Studio in Jakarta when the band was in Indonesia shooting their new video in July. They performed some of their popular hits and a couple of their new tracks from their long awaited third album.

Alexa (Indonesia)
Alexa is made up of Aqi (lead vocals), Satrio (guitar and vocals), Jar (drums, Rizki (guitar and vocals) and JMono (bass and vocals). Formed originally by JMono and Satrio, Alexa are a rock group ready to conquer the music industry with their progressive sound.
On why they chose Alexa as the band’s name: "We chose the band name because it represents a woman, which balances out [the fact] that we are all men. The concept it somewhat based on Yin-Yang. Coincidentally, from the list we had, ALEXA was the name that stood out the most and was easily remembered. AND it happens to be the name of a Greek Goddess."
As countries in the region celebrate their independence in August, [V] flies the flag for local music. As well as selecting the best acts as this month’s Chosen One, [V] premieres all-new episodes of AMP Around Asia.

Criteria's for choosing the Chosen One
The song in the V Countdown should become #1 in the last saturday of the month so the singer/band of that song will be a Chosen One for the next month.If there's no Celebrasian,Linkin Park will be the Chosen 1 for the month of August.I posted this because many are complaining why their favorite singer/band is not chosen as the Chosen One.

I'm sick of some songs of filipino artists. either OPM or rock.
OPM: revival.. corny.. boring.. ROCK? It's already time for POP and not ROCK.. they look like they using drugs.. ahaha.. i'm a filipino but I like Korean Artists.. They help there country to promote tourism..^^ not like here..

wonder girls is getting a market in the US right now..so, they gonna be an international artist.. they did lot of concerts too.. soon on November gonna be in China.. so why don't u guys interview them during their concert in China soon?I really hoping to u guys...
